Mama Dorah Tshabalala is the proverbial sponge that soaks up every bit of knowledge she can. She never had the opportunity to go to school, yet many years later she opened the doors of her own pre-school. Mama Dorah cares for more than 30 children between the ages of six months and five years. She not only feeds them on a daily basis but also teaches them the basics of reading and writing.

Sustainable skills training:

Sewing
Within the first two weeks after attending the beginners course in January 2008, Mama Dorah had generated R500 income in selling clothing items. She has since attended the advanced as well as many other workshops. Her sewing project has become a success and carries on to grow from strength to strength.

Siyabonga Bread Oven
8 Members have been trained to run the mini bakery which will feed the children with fresh bread on a daily basis as well as generate an income for the centre.
