It's been said that knowledge is power. This expression has come to life for Clover Mama Afrika and Medical Knowledge Institute (MKI) thanks to the valuable support of FlexiFleet a subsidiary of Eqstra Corporation. A little over two years ago, Clover Mama Afrika met up with MKI and has since provided the Mamas with workshops that would change the lives of many. With its goal to offer a platform for the delivery of and easy access to high quality healthcare education and information, MKI also supports the development and humanitarian objectives of healthcare programmes in developing and transitional countries.
Through its flagship social upliftment project, Clover Mama Afrika - Ukwakha Isizwe (building and nurturing our nation), Clover has been training these special women to become proficient in such essential skills as cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, business management, food gardening and bread baking skills. Over and above the training sessions these women are supplied with the necessary tools, equipment and infrastructure to create an income for their communities.
But Clover realises that while these skills help to uplift the Clover Mamas and their communities, equally as important to their empowerment was raising awareness about personal hygiene and health issues. Clover is therefore proud to be able to work with the Medical Knowledge Institute (MKI), to help provide its Mamas with Health Information Satellite. This joint venture has been made possible with the valuable support of FlexiFleet for five of the Clover Mamas with immediate effect.
"FlexiFleet has become more than just a business partner to Clover, they have also opened their hearts to the Clover Mama Afrika project in more ways than one. We are implementing the first five Health Information Satellites and in the near future, will be doing the same for all other Clover Mamas." says Prof Elain Vlok.
John Loxton, Managing Director of FlexiFleet, says it made sense to support the Clover Mama Afrika initiative as it emphasised realistic economic empowerment, something that is central to Flexifleet's core values and objectives. "The Clover Mama Afrika corporate social investment project is a perfect fit with our own corporate values of empowerment on a sustainable level. We will continue to support this project and look forward to an enduring and viable partnership on the business side as well as the CSI side." says Loxton. This is the third year that Eqstra Corporation, through its subsidiary FlexiFleet, supports the Clover Mama Afrika project.
